This story was submitted to us by our trusted friend, Andrea Baker - an award-winning humanitarian living full-time with her family in Bolivia. She will be leading the resurrection of this amazing center for rescued women and their children.
The House of Hope is a beacon of light in the red-light district of El Alto, Bolivia, one of the poorest cities in South America. It is the only holistic, restorative care center in the country specifically for survivors of sex trafficking/prostitution & their children.
Since 2002, the House of Hope has provided prostituted women & children a safe, accessible refuge – for support, meals, counseling, workshops, discipleship, medical care, prayer & friendship. In 2010, the community launched Suti Sana, a therapeutic employment project that helps women leave the streets & begin new lives of dignity & economic opportunity.
This year Word Made Flesh Bolivia was forced to shut down all programming of the care center, due to lack of funds. Although WMFB continues their outreach & friendships w/ the women of Carrasco Street & employs 9 women in the business, they can no longer offer the transitional care & support needed to enter into the Suti Sana program. We need your help to resurrect the House of Hope!
It only makes sense that HopeMob would help make sure the House of Hope in Bolivia stays alive! Do you hate human trafficking? This is how we end it!
Let's roll!
